2015 St Albans Snappers!

The Snappers for 2015 have been chosen! They are Sam, Paige, Bella, Isla, Tui, Olivia T, Olivia D, Aliana, Catherine, Caitlin and Georgia.

We are excited about being in the photography club this year. Here are some of our thoughts on photography:

Sam: I love taking photos because when I look back over photos I can remember the moments and how much fun I had.

Paige: I think photography is important because if we didn't have it, we couldn't capture memories over our lifetime.

Bella: I think photography is important because without it we wouldn't be able to look at photos when we are older.

Isla: I like taking photos so much that once I used up all the ink in the printer, printing off all the photos I took!

Tui: I'm excited to be in the Snappers because I love learning new things and I'm looking forward to learning more about photography.

Olivia T: I think photography is important because it's a type of art and we should appreciate all kinds of art.

Olivia D: I'm excited to be in the Snappers because I love taking photos of people having fun.

Aliana: I love taking photos because it's a great hobby and you can express how you feel at the time.

Catherine: I'm excited to be in the Snappers this year because I am looking forward to being in a team and taking photos.

Community

Mrs Hanson sent us out in groups to take pictures of things that represent one of our school values: Community. Here's what we came up with!

Maiya's flower photos

Maiya was inspired by the Spring flowers on her walk home. We have talked about making sure our photos are in focus before we capture them, and Maiya has definitely made sure hers are in focus! She has also used the idea of thirds that we have discussed; making sure the photo has the subject in one third of the picture. Beautiful pictures Maiya!

School values: FUN!

Last week, Miss Falkner sent us out at lunchtime to capture photos of students having fun! Fun is one of our school values so is very important to us. Check out all the ways that students at St Albans have FUN during lunchtimes!

 Seniors playing basketball

Students playing on the junior playground

 Awesome basketball skills!

 Climbing a climbing frame!

 Playing padder tennis.

 Juniors playing in the sun.

 Sandpit fun!

 Skipping!

Building team skills and ball skills!

Camera

Henry brought along his dad's old camera. We loved looking at it and seeing how different it is from cameras today.

Henry's sky and landscape photos

Henry is an awesome part of our St Albans Snappers team! He often brings his own camera to school and uses his initiative to take photos of school events.

This morning he was inspired to take photos of the beautiful sky we had in Christchurch this morning.

Keep it up Henry!
